About

Tirumalai Krishnamacharya is often referred to as the ‘father of modern yoga’. He is considered the most influential yoga teacher of the past century. Krishnamacharya never left his home of India; however, the seeds of his teachings grew into the global movement that yoga is today. His students (who went on to become a major factor in yoga’s spread to the West) were such as B. K. S. Iyengar, T. K. V. Desikachar, Pattabhi Jois, Indra Davi, and Srivatsa Ramaswami.

Srivatsa Ramaswami is one of Krishnamacharya’s longest-standing consistent direct students outside the family, studying with him for over 30 years. He preserved the Vinyasa Krama Yoga method. Vinyasa (meaning variations of movements) Krama (meaning sequence) Yoga is an ancient practice of physical and spiritual development. It consists of practicing asanas (postures), vinyasas, krama, synchronized with the breath. It also follows the most complete definition of classical yoga and philosophy.

Nicole Korchinsky is a dedicated Vinyasa Krama Yoga practitioner and teacher whose path has been shaped by study under Srivatsa Ramaswami. Her teaching is rooted in the traditional Vinyasa Krama method. She offers many types of yoga. However, she is deeply connected to try to maintain the roots of the Krishnamacharya lineage and integrity of ancient authentic yoga heritage.
